24DI Modbus Module
High-Density Digital I/O
The 24DI Modbus Module provides a compact solution for applications that require both digital input monitoring and digital output control over a Modbus RTU network. The Veawe UIO-24DI combines twelve digital inputs with twelve digital outputs in a single remote I/O module. It communicates through RS-485 and supports Modbus RTU for integration with PLCs, SCADA systems, HMIs, and industrial controllers.
24 Digital Inputs with Latched Status
The module provides twelve 24V-compatible digital inputs. Each input supports live status monitoring and a latched status function. The latched input remains active even after the field signal returns low. The controller can then read the latched status and automatically clear it. This helps prevent short-duration input changes from being missed by the Modbus master.
Each digital input also provides an individual counter function. The module counts input changes and stores the counter values in retentive memory. The slow counter registers support DI1 through DI24 and retain their values across power cycles.
High-Speed Counter and RPM Measurement
The module includes four high-speed counter channels for production counting and RPM measurement. The supported channels are X1, X2, X5, and X6. The module provides RPS values, RPM values, and production counter values through dedicated Modbus input registers. Production counter values use retentive memory across power cycles.
This makes the module suitable for applications that need both conventional digital I/O and machine-speed monitoring from the same remote I/O device.
Modbus RTU over RS-485
The 24DI Modbus Module uses Modbus RTU over RS-485. It supports baud rates from 300 to 115200 and provides selectable serial formats. A rotary address switch allows device address selection from 1 to 99. The default communication configuration is 19200 baud with 8N1 format.
The module provides dedicated Modbus registers for digital input status, latched input status, input counters, digital output control, output delays, and high-speed counter functions. This provides a structured interface for PLC and SCADA integration.
Industrial Remote I/O Applications
The module operates from a 15–24V DC supply. Its digital inputs accept 15–24V DC PNP signals, while the digital outputs provide 24V DC NPN control with a maximum output rating of 500mA. It supports DIN rail or wall mounting and uses a compact enclosure measuring 110mm × 140mm × 85mm.
The 24DI Modbus Module is well suited for machine automation, production monitoring, conveyor systems, equipment control, pulse counting, RPM measurement, and distributed industrial I/O applications where multiple inputs and outputs must be managed through a single Modbus RTU network.
